God but I envy your computer savvy!! You think you could teach me something about digital art whenever we meet? Ah yes, I thought I'd make a suggestion to help you further develop your traditional painting. As an exercise, FORCE YOURSELF to make a drawing (not a painting) with a specific light source, shading the items in your drawing with light (closest to source), middle, and dark (furthest away from source). Start with something really simple, like a couple of boxes....after you've done several of these, see if you can incorporate a light source in your contemporary stuff. Ron. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
