In one respect I was lucky; I grew up despising the important business people and their ilk, mostly because of a difficult relationship with my father. To this day I won't wear a coat and tie, and am immediately suspicious of anyone who does.

Vis a vis patriotism, however, I'm not sure it's always linked to economic interest. In fact I'd claim that it should not be, according to my somewhat libertarian thinking. But i have to acknowledge it runs government right, left and in between. It disturbs me to no-end when political parties hand out those dinky little flags at the door and everyone waves them for them for the camera. Greed is the great American sin, but I'd like to claim that it wasn't meant to be that way. Not that it matters much now.

Probably the most offensive thing to me is that when the presidents say the military is meant to 'rotect our interests abroad' it is pretty clear that they mean economic interests.

If we have to have government and politics, I'd like to see it all based on an issue by issue basis, no poltical parties, no moneyed interest.

I know. Dream on. But as red-blooded Americans, or blue bloods, or purple, we have one thing at least to be proud of:
